Product Safety
Last updated 16 September 2026
Toys are safe when they are used as intended, by the age they were designed for. This page covers what to check.
Follow the age guidance
Every toy carries a recommended age from its manufacturer, and we show it on the product page. It is a safety recommendation — usually about small parts, not about how clever a child is. Please follow it.
Toys for older children can be genuinely dangerous for a younger sibling in the same room. Small parts are a choking hazard for children under three.
Read what comes in the box
- Keep the warnings and instructions that come with the toy.
- Remove and discard packaging, bags and ties before giving a toy to a child.
- Follow assembly instructions, and check the toy is properly assembled before play.
- Supervise play where the instructions ask for it.
Batteries and electrical items
Where a toy takes batteries, fit them as the instructions describe, keep battery compartments closed, and keep loose and button cells away from children — swallowing a button cell is a medical emergency. Do not mix old and new batteries.
Check toys as they age
Inspect toys from time to time for cracks, sharp edges or loose parts, and stop using anything that has broken.
What we do and do not claim
We will not describe a toy as "100% safe", "completely child safe" or "non-toxic" unless that specific claim is supported by documentation for that specific product. Those words are easy to print and hard to stand behind.
Where we hold verified manufacturer, importer, country of origin or standards information for a product, it is shown on that product's page under Product & Manufacturer Information. Where we do not hold it, we leave it out rather than guess.
Reporting a safety concern
If you believe a toy you bought from us is unsafe, stop using it immediately and tell us. We take safety reports seriously and will investigate with the supplier.
Customer care contact details are being set up and will appear here and in the footer once live.
